In a terrible turn of events, NASCAR nation’s nightmare has come true. The highly anticipated Daytona 500 has been pushed back a day due to the inclement weather. The first spell of rain has already reached Central Florida on Saturday and looks like it will be staying on, ruining the fandom’s hopes big time.

The closest sources to the organization have confirmed the news that the “Great American Race” which was scheduled for Sunday at 3 pm ET has been pushed back a day, essentially tipping the whole schedule.

NASCAR’s tragic love story with the rain gods continues. It all started with the consistent rainfall washing away the lower division of the series- Xfinity, and now as per the latest reports even the Daytona 500 race has been postponed to Monday at 4 pm ET. When it comes to NASCAR race days, rain has a knack for raining on the parade, especially during the recent Daytona 500 events.

Previously, the 2020 showdown had to be pushed to Monday, while the 2021 face-off finally concluded under the stars on Sunday, all courtesy of those uninvited rain clouds. This damp squib has been looming all week as we gear up for the big 500. In a move to sidestep any potential downpour disruptions, NASCAR decided to play it safe by moving the ARCA race originally slated for Saturday afternoon to late Friday night, hot on the heels of the Truck Series race, and now it has impacted the big race as well.
