“NASCAR Operations Are a Joke!”: Fans Back Dale Earnhardt Jr’s Ballistic Rant Against NASCAR as He Makes Fun of Their Management of Rain

Without a doubt, wet weather is considered the bane of any motorsport. It does not matter which series it is, wet weather always spells bad news. This is especially true for NASCAR, as it often leads to the race being suspended until the rain stops. Last weekend in New Hampshire, the Cup and Xfinity races were completely different. The latter kicked off in dreadful conditions, while the Cup event was postponed to Monday and took place in the dry. Safe to say, this did not sit right with Dale Earnhardt Jr, who criticized NASCAR in his podcast.
The NASCAR world agrees wholeheartedly with Dale Earnhardt Jr
Dale Jr admitted that NASCAR would obviously have some concerns. However, he just finds it hilarious that the cars have massive windshield wipers and they run normally in the dry. One of the biggest functions of windshield wipers is to gain a significant aero advantage. Everything, from the size, the location, the angle, it is all for the aero advantage.

He mentioned on his podcast, “I’m sure that there are concerns that are warranted and reasons why they don’t do this. I just think the optics is hilarious. They come to the race track, how many races do we watch and go around in the fricking dry. With these ridiculously large windshield wipers that are really large for for only one reason. It’s an aero advantage.”
Dale Jr even observed the wipers of one of the smaller Xfinity teams, and they were the same as any other normal car. Meanwhile, the Cup wipers are actually massive, and he finds it hilarious that it is not being used for the function that it is built for.

Being one of the most popular NASCAR personalities during his heydays and even after retirement, it wasn’t surprising that the NASCAR Nation backed him up in full force. According to one fan, “Perfectly said! NASCAR operations are a joke!! This is just one of many.”
Others were of the opinion that the former NASCAR driver should have a big role in the sport. Another fan declared, “He’s so right! Why aren’t they even attempting to drive when the track is wet?” Few were actually quite angry that NASCAR would not compete, while a series like IMSA has no such qualms.
As mentioned before, in New Hampshire, the Xfinity cars got a chance to race in the rain. However, the Cup Series cars were not allowed to flex their wet weather muscles, as the race was postponed. It was strange because the last 2–3 races were held in wet conditions, so one would think that the Cup cars could handle it.

In an earlier episode, Dale Jr re-iterated this point about the wet weather setup. According to him, the cars not only have wipers, but also mud flaps, brake lights and other aides to help drivers see better in the rain. So he could not understand why the officials were too scared to let the Cup cars race. Dale Jr confessed that all of the aides are already on the car, and not something that has to be fitted at the last moment.
Hopefully in the future, NASCAR would not be so paranoid and allow the Cup cars to play in the rain. It would also be beneficial for the drivers, who would want to test out their wet weather skills as well.
