When it comes to dominance at the superspeedways, especially at Daytona, there is hardly any other name that comes to mind other than Austin Hill and Richard Childress Racing. For the fifth time in a row, Hill, Jesse Love, and RCR made the Daytona International Speedway their playground as rivals, including Dale Earnhardt Jr., failed to take them down. As Junior and his team are out of options, Denny Hamlin devised a plan to stop Hill and RCR.

Denny Hamlin’s advice to help Dale Jr.’s drivers
In the recent Dale Jr. Download podcast, the former NASCAR driver and the JR Motorsports co-owner shared his thoughts on he failed to stop Hill and RCR at Daytona despite having four cars to take him down.
“We try to scheme about how we’re going to beat them, and we just can’t figure it out”, Dale Jr. said, surrendering to Hill’s supremacy. “And then fans go on the internet, and they’re like, ‘Dude, you got four cars. It’s one guy, 4 cars. How?’ But y’all just don’t know, man. I mean that damn car is fast.”
“Right now he’s still top dollar man. We got to take him. We got to figure out how to take him down,” he added.
While Earnhardt Jr.‘s drivers, such as Justin Allgaier, Sammy Smith, Carson Kvapil, and Rajah Caruth, failed to stop him and almost gave up strategically, given that RCR has always been the fastest, Denny Hamlin, who co-owns 23XI Racing, and conquered the Daytona 500 with Tyler Reddick, had other ideas.
“You’ve got to work 2 by 2 to overtake that one,” Hamlin said in the recent Actions Detrimental podcast episode. “You can’t fight amongst yourselves and try to pass the you know to pass the leader, 2nd, 3rd and 4th have to all commit to. You can fight it out amongst yourselves, amongst your slower cars. They need to but, but you’re never. Gonna pass the fastest car if you’re trying to do a one-on-one battle, that’s just not gonna work.”

DAYTONA BEACH, FL – FEBRUARY 14: Austin Hill 21 Richard Childress Racing Bennett Transportation Chevrolet celebrates winning the NASCAR, Motorsport, USA OReilly Auto Parts Series United Rentals 300 on February 14, 2026 at Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, FL.
Notably, Austin Hill and Richard Childress Racing have been an absolute menace for rival teams, especially at Daytona. With his victory on Saturday, Hill has won four races in five outings at this track, starting in 2022.
Hill’s teammate, Jesse Love, won the 2025 edition of the United Rentals 300 and claimed the Xfinity Series championship at the end of the season. Thanks to their specialized engine performance from ECR (Earnhardt Childress Racing) engines, known for its power and reliability, RCR was able to establish itself as a dominant force.
As a result, JR Motorsports, Richard Childress Racing’s closest team, found it hard to bypass and had to settle for less. However, Carson Kvapil, one of JRM’s star drivers, is reluctant to give up and wants to take this up as a lesson.
Dale Jr.’s driver pledges to improve at Atlanta
Following the conclusion of the United Rentals 300 at the Daytona International Speedway on Saturday, Carson Kvapil let his feelings known and admitted to having fallen short. Reluctant to give up, here’s what the #1 driver said:
“We had a strong Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet all day, and I can’t thank this team enough for giving me a car capable of winning the race. It feels good to finish in the top 10, but I wish we would have had a little more. We are going to learn and build from this performance and take it to Atlanta next weekend.”

Kvapil, who qualified 11th, had a top 10 result as he ended up in P7. His stage results were better as he finished third in the first stage and then reached his best in Stage 2 as runner up.
While Austin Hill finished the race on top, Justin Allgaier came home as runner-up. Other JRM drivers, such as Sammy Smith, and Rajah Caruth, came home in fifth, and 10th positions, respectively.
