Rajah Caruth just made history becoming the third Black driver to win in a NASCAR national series race (truck series), tearing up the track in Las Vegas. The win has truly earned him a spot in the elite company of Wendell Scott, a trailblazer from 1963, and Bubba Wallace. Believe it or not, Caruth honed his skills in the virtual world of iRacing before making waves in the Truck series. But now something big is coming up. He has caught the eye of racing royalty like Dale Earnhardt Jr and Rick Hendrick. And as per the latest reports, he might even get behind the wheel for Dale Jr soon.

Is Dale Earnhardt Jr looking to have Rajah Caruth promoted to Xfinity?

IcyVert, the latest buzz maker in motorsports on social media, gave a shoutout to Caruth, hinting he’s the next big thing for JR Motorsports as he shared the same video captioning it “Congrats Rajah Caruth.” Well, it seems his dominant win at Las Vegas served him well.

Not too long ago, Spire Motorsports threw the spotlight on Caruth, handing him the keys to their #71 Chevy for the Truck Series in 2024. Plus, HendrickCars.com jumped in as a big-time sponsor for a bunch of races, starting with a bang at Daytona. Now, the rumor mill’s buzzing that Caruth might be hitting the track for Xfinity races, too, with Dale Jr. possibly playing a big role in that move.

JR Motorsports dropped a hint with a cryptic video of the #88 car, hinting at a new wheelman. Dale Jr himself fanned the flames, tweeting, “Oh here we go again! This dude has been tearing it up lately,” which got folks talking.

Right now, the #88 sees a mix of talent like Bubba Pollard, Carson Kvapil, and occasionally Dale Jr himself. But it looks like Dale’s got his eye on adding another speedster to the mix. And after Caruth’s display at Vegas, there’s no reason this can’t happen.

Rajah Caruth’s victory in Las Vegas was like a dream come true

Right after HendrickCars.com agreed to back him for the whole 2024 season, Caruth clinched his first-ever win, leading 38 out of 134 laps and starting from the pole in a Truck race that surprisingly stayed green most of the time. Before this, Caruth had only led two laps in his entire Truck Series career spanning 29 races.

But Unlike most big-league drivers who start racing when they’re barely old enough to ride a bike, Caruth hit the track for the first time just before turning 17. In fact, he was the first to join the Drive for Diversity program without a lick of racing experience under his belt. And probably that’s why drivers like Bubba Wallace became his mentor and admire him so much.

A testament to that is, after his first victory in the NASCAR Truck race in Las Vegas, Bubba Wallace was one of the first ones to celebrate and congratulate his win after a tough loss in Daytona’s season opener. Watching the Trucks race from a Vegas sports book, Wallace was on edge but thrilled for Caruth.

Daniel Suarez, alongside Wallace and others from the Drive for Diversity program, admires Caruth’s hard work and the doors it’s opening for him. And now that he might be offered an Xfinity drive as well, it is certainly going to be an exciting opportunity for him.
