Brad Keselowski’s comeback and rumored RFK supercar surprise

Brad Keselowski may have had a dry spell over the last three years, but he is currently on a roll. First, a mighty Darlington win, and now a long-rumored deal from last year, may finally be coming to fruition. As per the reports, there was a hush-hush deal brewing between Cameron Waters, a stellar Supercar racer, and RFK racing. But with Waters renewing his ties with his Supercars team, the wave just died down. But a surprise midnight post by nascarrumornostalgia handle on Instagram RFK just got it back into the limelight.

The post said, One more late-night post for y’all. In case you didn’t know, expect RFK’s announcement in the morning to be Cam Waters driving the 60 at Sonoma. Again, expect Will Brown to be there driving the 33. And it sounds like even more Supercar drivers will be jumping across the pond to make NASCAR starts later this season. Alright I gotta go to bed.”

While there has been no official announcement, and taking rumor mill gossip as the gospel has often led to disappointment, RFK provided a major hint on Instagram.

Under the post, the NASCAR fans were thrilled and excited. Some fans were sure it was indeed Waters. One user said, CAMERON “CAMMY CAM” WATERS, COME ON DOWN. Another said, OMG THATS CAM WATERS. Most just seem thrilled to welcome another Aussie to the line-up.

But if you thought, why the sudden influx of drivers from supercars? There is a reason. Dale Earnhardt Jr pointed out that NASCAR’s Next-Gen cars share pointers with V8 Supercars. It could be the big draw. So it’s a given many teams are looking out for potential talent, and so was Richard Childress. And he might have found someone to join them.

Richard Childress had a keen interest in Supercars drivers. Just when we were about to close the deal with Brodie Kostecki, it was unexpectedly put on hold. It is still unclear why he stepped away from the team, but he simply said he needed to prioritize his health. According to Fox Sports, there was a falling out between Kostecki and Erebus team bosses, including CEO Ryan, last year.

But this is a blast from the past. What we have is some fresh information. RCR officials had confirmed to Motorsport.com that Will Brown will drive the no.33 Chevrolet in the June race at Sonoma Raceway. Brown is an ace at the game and is currently leading in the Supercars, remaining with three victories for the Triple Eight Race Engineering Red Bull team. He boasts eight career wins in 108 starts. Austin Dillon, the grandson of Richard Childress, recently gave a statement that confirms it.

He said, don’t know a lot of details about it, but I know it’s a good possibility that it’s happening, I don’t know that it’s completed yet.”
