Following the epic Xfinity race at Darlington Raceway which saw Sheldon Creed lose out on the race win after contact with Kyle Larson, NASCAR spotter Freddie Kraft took to defend the actions of Kyle Larson against Creed’s criticism as he compared the incident to Ty Gibbs’s battle with Larson at Road America.

During the podcast, Kraft stated, “I can see why people would be upset with Kyle, for racing as hard as he did. I don’t think, I think Sheldon set us the bar. We’ve seen this earlier in the year, where I think it was Road America, so Ty didn’t really rough Kyle up. So when Kyle got the opportunity like he got back around had an opportunity to rough him up.”

“So he didn’t do anything to me, so I am not gonna do anything to him.”

“But when he caught Sheldon, Sheldon was not going down without a fight. I’m not blaming Sheldon at all but you know Sheldon was aggressively trying to block and then do whatever he had to do to win. So when Kyle sees that he’s like alright the gloves are off, now we’re gonna race.”

“I don’t think Kyle did anything egregious, he went ahead and got loose.”

He concluded by stating, “These guys are just racing their a*ses off.”

“We go back to the first Atlanta race this year, I’m spotting for Brandon Brown, we’re running side by side with Josh Berry on the front stretch and Sheldon tries to go three wide through the middle and causes a wreck, like how can you blame another guy for racing aggressively its how you’re gonna race.”

“Whether, I mean the guy’s trying to win the race. Whether you like it or not Kyle Larson is not there to collect points, he’s there to collect a trophy and if you’re a race car driver, it’s really hard to tell on yourself going into that spot.”

He concluded, “After everything you overcame that day, you pass this car you’re getting victory, this is the last guy and how do you be like no I’m not gonna let him, I’m not gonna say anything.”
