The last few weeks in NASCAR have been a whirlwind. It started with Bubba Wallace’s fight in Las Vegas, followed by Kyle Larson’s comeback win at Homestead-Miami, finishing with Ross Chastain’s brave, never-seen-before wall-hugger move that bought him a place in Championship 4 Race in Phoenix. But now the spotlight is on Phoenix, will Chase Elliott pull out a bunny from the hat, and win?

NASCAR veteran driver Kenny Wallace made a video predicting the standings at the end of the Championship 4 Race on The Kenny Wallace Show. With his decades of experience in NASCAR, he is someone whose views are respected among fans of the sport.

He started off his predictions with his first/safe choice, and said, “I wanna go with Chase Elliott because he’s the ladies man and he’s the most popular driver.” But Wallace was quick to strike that off and explained why he won’t be rooting for Chase Elliott.

He said, “I’m gonna throw a dart on the wall. I’m gonna go with Ross Chastain, okay? I gotta go with Ross Chastain because hey you ride that horse while it’s hot. I always quote Dale Sr. you know that. You cannot go wrong quoting Dale Sr. It’s like quoting Babe Ruth.”

“Dale Earnhardt Sr told me one time ‘you ride that horse while it’s hot’. I’m saying that Chastain was just good enough at Martinsville in keeping himself in the game. See Chastain didn’t run bad at Martinsville, he was always in the top 10. He was there to pounce. I’m gonna go with Chastain to win the Championship, Christopher Bell second, Logano third, and Chase Elliott fourth,” he concluded.

Sunday’s race is the biggest event of the year and thus a big deal for all 4 drivers. But it will have a special significance for both, Bell and Chastain, with both drivers making their debut in the event on Sunday.

Will Chase Elliott lose to a Martinsville repeat from Chastain in Phoenix?

The video game move Ross Chastain pulled in Martinsville brought him a lot of good things – a 4th place finish in Martinsville, a place in the Championship 4 Race in Phoenix, and a whole lotta love from fans (especially the younger ones who loved the thrilling experience).

But Chastain has made it clear that he won’t be trying out something similar for a long time. Speaking ahead of Phoenix, he said “A lot of people have asked if I would do it again, or am I looking at other tracks [to do it], and I was in the car, I don’t care to ever do that again.”

“It wasn’t like I had one big hit, but I had the longest wreck that I’ve ever felt because it was just sustained all around the corner with the g-loads… The right-front suspension broke, the right-front upper control arm is broken, but I was able to get across the line before I could feel it. Why it worked, I don’t know. I have no ideas or plans to ever do that again because it was not pleasant.”
