“To my fans and partners… Sherry and I have made the decision to end our relationship. I will continue supporting Sherry moving forward. I would ask that you respect our privacy as there will be no further comment about this matter,” Truex wrote as per journalist Bob Pockrass.

It’s worth mentioning how the couple championed raising money for a number of causes through their foundations ever since Pollex was diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian Cancer in 2014.

Since then, the disease has come in and out, and last year, she revealed to The Athletic that cancer had returned and spread to her lung.

Truex on “missed opportunities” in 2022

After he finished inside the final four in 2021, Truex Jr. was expected to make it big in the following season as well. But unfortunately, his 2022 campaign was littered with moments of bad luck that affected his races on a consistent basis, leading him to miss out on playoffs.

For Truex, 2022 was “a lot of missed opportunities.”

“A lot of that was from mistakes or not consistently being good enough,” Martin said as per FOX Sports. “We had an opportunity to win a bunch of races, and we had some bad luck. We screwed up a lot on our own along the way, too.”

“I think it just felt like we were fighting uphill all the time. And that starts with understanding the cars better, showing up closer, and qualifying better and more consistently.”

With that said, in 2023, Truex would be hoping to turn it all around and get back to winning ways, and ways he’s associated with, especially considering his looming retirement.

Of course, it wouldn’t be easy for obvious reasons, but his fans would bet that if there’s anyone who can turn it around, it’s him.
