On Thursday night, Justin Allgaier and Ronnie Bassett Jr got involved in a massive wreck on the last lap. While Bassett Jr got the worst of the crash, Allgaier didn’t get away so easily either. The 34-year old took a quick trip to the hospital after reporting an irregular heart rate.

After some checkups, doctors gave Allgaier the green signal to race on Friday in the second leg of the doubleheader. The bad news was that his No. 7 car was wrecked and the team had a huge task to fix it within 24 hours. Fortunately, the team has a Plan B, which is sending Justin Allgaier out in the spare car

Following the incident and the consequent hospital visit, Allgaier’s wife, Ashley kept fans in the loop on social media. She even expressed her gratitude for the fans who showed concern about Justin’s condition.

Once he was given the all-clear, she was clearly ecstatic that her husband can race again.

While all this was going on, Austin Cindric seized victory in Thursday’s race ahead of Chase Briscoe and Justin Haley. Cindric timed an overtime restart to perfection when he charged past Briscoe to take his first victory of the season.

As it turned out, this marked Cindric’s first win on an oval layout.

Coming back to Justin Allgaier, he was supposed to start at P20 for Friday night’s race. However, he is one of eight drivers using a spare car. In other words, he and the seven other drivers will have to start from the rear of the field.

Unfortunately for him, things have gotten a lot worse in the spare car because he reported several issues with the car. In spite of this, he still managed to finish in 5th place.

Meanwhile, Bassett Jr was also able to race on Friday, but his race ended much too early for his liking.
