NASCAR Xfinity Team Penalized for Improperly Mounted Ballast

A pre-race examination violation for an inappropriately mounted ballast was given to the #18-Riley Herbst NASCAR crew.

On the track punishments for the group were- The car chief, John Egbert Jr., was ejected and the No. 18 began the race from the last position. He additionally needed to serve a go through penalty after the beginning of the race.

Herbst’s No. 18 Toyota Supra had an inappropriately mounted weight and fizzled pre-race examination multiple times.

The rookie of the year competitor comes into Friday’s race tenth in the title standings. Herbst has scored two top-five completions and 12 top-10s in 21 beginnings this year.

Justin Haley won the NASCAR race

Justin Haley won the NASCAR Xfinity Series Wawa 250 at Daytona in a way that was practically startling.

“An amazing effort by Kaulig Racing,” Haley told NBCSN.

“Obviously, I hate that AJ and Ross got together there. … Parked it right here on the double yellow line where I went down too low about two years (and was disqualified from a win) in a Xfinity race. A little humor there.”

Haley, driver of the No. 11 Chevrolet for Kaulig Racing, was running fourth. It was complete mayhem as the pack of vehicles headed through turns three and four on the last lap.

AJ Allmendinger and Ross Chastain were running 1-2. Chastain attempted to pass Allmendinger for the lead. Rather, Chastain collided with the left-back of his teammate. This effect sent the two vehicles into the wall.

“It’s terrible to run into your teammate like that,” Chastain told NBCSN.

“Must be my fault, though. It’s unfortunate, we did everything right all night. We just got to win. … Did everything right to be the the best teammate I could. I haven’t always been. Last lap, I don’t back down and I’m going to go for it. … I hate it, man! It’s not going to help me moving forward.”

Haley was able to take the lead after the crash for the victory. It’s his subsequent straight victory on a Super Superspeedway, succeeding at Talladega in June.
