At the time, he was ahead, with Hemric driving around his outside and passing him for second place. Unfortunately, Jones lost control and was simply a passenger in an unavoidable accident.

The rear of the car took a hefty whack on the wall before the battered car slid  back down to the bottom of the oval.

What happened to Brandon Jones when the race ended?

Rest assured, Jones’ car did not survive the ordeal and it was race over for him. Meanwhile, Hemrich was lucky to escape getting tangled with Brandon Jones.

He went on to finish the race in ninth place, around 8.9 seconds behind the race winner. Speaking of the race winner, Austin Cindric bagged his first win of the season, leading 130 of the 200 laps at the Kentucky Speedway.

He ended the race 2.262 seconds ahead of Ford compatriot Chase Briscoe and the first of the Chevrolets, Justin Haley. With this, Cindric has become the first driver since 1971 to win national series races on consecutive nights at the same track.

Prior to this, NASCAR legend Richard Petty did it in that year and etched his name in the history books.

As it turns out, this is arguably Cindric’s most dominant victory in his 21-year career. Not only did he lead for nearly 130 laps, but he built up an almost 12-second lead to the chasing pack.

Sadly, Brandon Jones and Daniel Hemric brought out the final caution of the day with 22 laps remaining.

This slashed poor old Cindric’s lead and he had to build it back up again. Unfortunately, fewer laps meant that he could only cross the finish line 2-2 seconds ahead of Briscoe. Meanwhile, Justin Haley was trailing 5.1 seconds behind the race winner.
