NASCAR’s Richest Driver Ever Dale Earnhardt Jr Reveals What Changed Him From Super Awkward to Super Relatable

Revisiting what the 26 times NASCAR Cup Series race winner Dale Earnhardt Jr expressed on a podcast with Danica Patrick. In that conversation, he stated that he always felt uncomfortable and super awkward meeting new people, or even just being around them.

He said, “I just don’t have that ability to really come off as authentic because of that awkwardness you know.”

“And so when I’m when I get put in a room with people that I don’t know, I just kind of lock-up. And I’m not outgoing and I’m not going to take over the room or not gonna be the life of the party.”

Dale Jr. also revealed that “Maybe the fifth time that I’m at that room, you know I might be that person, it just takes me a while to sort of get comfortable and trust the environment and the people I’m around and I feel like that the things you mentioned the Podcast, Twitter really accelerated all that stuff.

What made Dale Earnhardt Jr super relatable?

In that Podcast, Dale Jr. described that the Podcasts gave him a chance to control the context or the comment, rather than leaving it out in the open. Also, it was liberating for him to have that platform that helped him from situations where his quotes were taken out of context.

With that, he also stated how Twitter or Instagram became a really great platform for a person like him to have a firsthand experience of reactions from people.

This helped him assess how he can encounter certain people. According to him, such platforms have given him an acceleration when he’s on bad days while racing. As fans, they can pick him up, and get him back on his feet. And on the good days, of course, they can celebrate with him.

Although, he concluded by saying, “Twitter, Instagram is just the tip of the iceberg, it’s not the entire public opinion of you.”
