Did NASCAR just challenge an NBA legend in the courtroom?

Watch What’s Trending Now!

For the past two months, Michael Jordan and his compatriots have locked horns with the stock car racing series in a serious courtroom drama. The NASCAR lawsuit may represent a historical turning point in the sport, as 23XI Racing and Front Row Motorsports seek to upturn the ‘monopolistic practices’ present.

However, what is most noteworthy is the incessant slugfest apparent between the two parties. While Jim France and Co. have gained an upper hand in court, Michael Jordan and Co. are giving their best. And at the same time, the NBA star may be dropping subtle hints of the animosity.

Yes, he didn’t hide his fight at a college basketball event!

The timeline? The NASCAR lawsuit was filed on October 2nd, after 23XI and FRM did not sign the 2025 charter agreement. Since then, this legal battle has grown between billionaire Michael Jordan and the multi-billion dollar enterprise of NASCAR. The latter got the upper hand frequently, though. In early November, a federal judge denied 23XI and FRM’s preliminary injunction request, forcing them to consider open team racing instead of chartered spots. Then NASCAR called for an outright dismissal of the lawsuit this month.

Michael Jordan and his team have also been preparing rounds of counterattacks. Jordan’s passion to fight back even seems to be spilling over into his NBA world. The Jumpman Invitational event is back for the 3rd consecutive year for college basketball. It is bringing basketball teams from four of the original Jordan Brand universities, North Carolina, Florida, Oklahoma, and Michigan, to Charlotte. The venue is also home to NASCAR, which hosts its prestigious Coca-Cola 600 race there. Yet when Jordan brought one of his 23XI Racing cars to the Jumpman event, one peculiar thing was visible: no sign of NASCAR was visible on the ride.

This just adds more drama to the lawsuit, which is already intensifying in the courtroom every week.
