Letarte said, “So the racing purists didn’t love it. But the racer loved it. Like he advanced, well within the rules, well within the confinements of that racetrack, for the car he had that day and the rules in which he was competing. I give him an A+, should be celebrating. We always talk about, do whatever it takes, Ross has taken that to a new level, doing whatever it takes.”

“Do I want to continue to see it, I don’t. But that does not mean it is wrong. Look there are rules in the rulebooks that probably had my initials next to them. Oh you messed this up we didn’t like it, so we changed it like it’s okay. When the NBA had to come up with the three seconds to the lane because Will Chamberlain or somebody just stood there all day and dunked the basketball. well, this isn’t a very good game.”

“This is boring, we better come up with a rule. Like… Every rule in the rulebook is a reaction to something. And here is why, what Ross did took a tremendous amount of skill, courage, and all of the above. For the next guy to do it I’m gonna be less impressed. Like the first guy Bravo, unbelievable, but the next guy you’re just copying the guy who showed you how to do it.”
