Before 23XI Racing existed, Bubba Wallace used to race for Richard Petty Motorsports. However, as his contract came to a close, fellow competitor Denny Hamlin offered him a seat on a team that was yet to be created. Moreover, he kept telling Wallace that Michael Jordan would co-own the team. However, Wallace seemed sceptical at first, but during a recent podcast, he revealed why he felt that way.

Wallace stated, “I had a couple of options on the table and I was like, uh okay, and then Denny started texting me, hey man… this may happen. I will never forget what I said to him is, he was like dude this is it, this is great and I said to him I said in the Kobe Bryant video, one reason is the press conference and he’s not smiling… The jobs not finished.”

“I have had a lot of moments like, hey man this is gonna happen, like you’re about to be a star and then call him on Monday, hey what happened, they’re like I don’t know, talk to you later. So I have been left down so many times right? So I was like hey man no disrespect but send him that video. I said when it’s finished and I’m signed we can go celebrate.”

Bubba Wallace reveals funny stories he had with Michael Jordan

During the same podcast, Wallace spoke about some of the funnier sides he got to witness while meeting Jordan on a regular basis.

Wallace mentioned that the best moment he had with MJ was when he got that call from Denny Hamlin, who told Wallace that somebody wanted to talk to him. When Wallace agreed, he heard Michael Jordan talking back to him. He also mentioned how Jordan would joke around with Wallace and then later pull him aside and basically making it clear that he wanted to see results.
