Later on this month, NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace will headline the 2022 AfroTech Conference. For a bit of context, this is regarded as one of America’s most prominent tech gatherings for African-Americans. This year’s edition is expected to make landfall in Austin, Texas on November 13. What makes this so special is the fact that it will be the first in-person event since 2019, as later editions were affected by COVID-19.

Why is Bubba Wallace attending this conference?

According to AfroTech’s parent company, Blavity CEO Morgan DeBaun, this year’s event has important aims. To be precise, the plan is to find a connection between music, culture, technology, and fintech. It is also worth mentioning that there will be new sessions and programming to allow attendees to hone their craft in various technical positions. This also includes hosting workshops on how to find mentors and advisers for their respective fields.

DeBaun told TechCrunch, “Tech continues to be the fastest-growing industry in the world. We want to make sure that our community is not just getting the early career jobs, but actually making it all the way through the career ladder.

Another special feature of AfroTech is that there will be a special emphasis on culture and music. According to DeBaun, she planned to make the event as entertaining as possible for the attendees. This was why music is such an important aspect, as it is a prominent feature of African American culture.
