As the defending NASCAR Cup Series champion, not having a single win in 2020 reflects poorly on Kyle Busch. Recently, Joe Gibbs Racing team owner, Joe Gibbs, opened up on the #18 driver.
Fortunately for Busch, he is still in playoff contention for the moment. He is set to start the Bank of America Roval 400 in 9th place. According to Gibbs, “It’s been wild, what’s happened to him this year.
“The fact that we had so many changes because of COVID, there’s no practice, you go straight into the car. I think all those things have affected Kyle and the #18 team this year.

“We can definitely say, we can never count him out, I think he knows what the challenge is, this week, it’s gonna be a huge hurdle.”

What else did Joe Gibbs say about Kyle Busch?
The JGR team owner reflected on the wrecks that the 35-year-old suffered in the past few races. However, he is confident that Busch Jr. is capable of achieving a win, and if he could pick a favorite, it would be Kyle Busch.
Heading into this weekend’s race at the Charlotte Roval, Busch is under a lot of pressure. He is right on the bubble of being eliminated from the Playoffs and failing to make it into the Round of 8. It is also worth noting that he is also trying to gun for his maiden win in 2020.

Truthfully, the winning objective is also for personal pride. There is also the fact that it will automatically guarantee qualification into the next round of the Playoffs. However, Kyle Busch will have his work cut out for him since he is starting down in the 9th place.

Admittedly, the Charlotte Roval will be hugely unpredictable and could throw up plenty of surprises. However, the first thing on his mind would be to maintain a safe distance from Joey Logano.
