Football Fraternity Sends Heartfelt Birthday Message to 83-YO Coach Gibbs With Touching Throwback Video on His Big Day

Joe Gibbs’ influence is visible across different sports and not just NASCAR. The three-time Super Bowl-winning coach is one of the leading figures at the trackside and among NASCAR’s most prominent team owners. However, his presence isn’t limited to Joe Gibbs Racing, his work in changing American football has also been exemplary. 

As the celebrated coach turns 83 today, the sports world has united to celebrate his life, success, and infinite memories. Joe Gibbs expanded his influence in the NFL through the Washington Redskins, where he became the only head coach to have won Super Bowls with three different starting quarterbacks. Since then, there have been fewer in the club’s history with more if not similar importance.

After a good NFL success for Joe Gibbs in the NFL on the back of the then-Washington Redskins owner Jack Kent Cooke. Despite starting off his tenure with five consecutive losses, Gibbs inspired a great comeback to end the season with an 8-8 record. 

Joe Gibbs coached the Redskins from 1981 to 1992. He also won the NFL Coach of the Year award in 1982 and 1983. Following his departure from the NFL team, he founded Joe Gibbs Racing. Since its inception, JGR has been one of the most successful teams and has stacked five championships under its belt. 

 

 

 

The Pro Football Hall of Fame official Twitter handle took the responsibility of letting the world know about his contributions to football. Wishing him a happy 83rd birthday, the home of the NFL’s elite posted a throwback video that could make one nostalgic as it guided the i=viewer through some of Gibbs’ most iconic moments in the sport.

Joe Gibbs became a celebrated name in the Hall of Fame in 1996 and went to the NASCAR Hall of Fame in 2020. To show their love and admiration for the former coach, he was also voted into the NFL 100th Anniversary All-time Team.

Earlier this year, JGR announced that Harris Blitzer Sports and Entertainment and Arctos Partners will constitute of a minority ownership in the team. HBSE owner Josh HArris has also been touted as one of the future owners of the Commanders.

Speaking about the new partnership in the works, Josh Harris said, Joe is a winner. First in football and then with Joe Gibbs Racing, he has led organizations that build winning cultures based on strong values and a deep commitment to family and faith.

Through the partnership, Joe Gibbs will become a limited partner in HBSE. While the ownership group for the Washington Commanders is separate, Gibbs advised Harris during the negotiations that successfully ended in May to buy the Washington team which Coach Gibbs led to three Super Bowls. At the time the NFL deal was announced Gibbs was a vocal supporter.
