The sun wasn’t bright for Kyle Busch and Richard Childress Racing as the 2-time champion, yet again succumbed to his team’s inefficiency. While ‘Rowdy’ had an impressive qualifying session, getting a brilliant 5th spot on the grid, the race wasn’t so fortunate for the RCR driver as he was yet again dragged back owing to his #8 Chevy’s shortcomings.

Kyle Busch’s ambitious run comes to a miserable stop

Despite having a solid 2023 season with 3 wins under his belt, Richard Childress Racing ace, Kyle Busch now is going through a rough patch with 2 back to back bottom 30 finishes. While it was a catastrophic ending in Michigan with the #8 Chevy getting into the wall and wrecking out in the early stage of the race, Busch’s more recent run was also bleak as he finished 36th in the 39-car field.

Though the driver has successfully secured his playoff berth with stellar wins at Auto Club, Talladega Speedway, and WWT Raceway, the struggle continues with RCR and Chevy as major mechanical failures halted his advance, eventually pulling him back to the tail end of the pack.

Busch, who was a favorite heading into the Indianapolis race with 4 road course wins, suffered an engine malfunction that got him on the back foot shortly after Stage 2. The driver even radioed to his team, mentioning his car troubles. As his boss Richard Childress thought of checking it out over the radio, it enraged KB fans, prompting them to slam Childress.

One fan wrote, “Well another weekend another mistake with a fast race car. Need to get this turned around now or it will be a fast first round exit.”
