In 2021, Alex Bowman did not particularly enjoy a great campaign. This is because he finished as the last of the Hendrick Motorsports quartet. All this in spite of him notching up the second-most wins in 2021 for Hendrick Motorsports. To be precise, William Byron only had one win, while defending champion Chase Elliott took two wins.

Speaking at the NASCAR Awards ceremony red carpet, Bowman said, “Last year (2020), we ended the season really consistent, finished sixth in points, had a really great playoff run, and nobody really cared. It was cool to finish sixth in points, but we only won one race. This year, we won four races, we won a race in the middle of the playoffs, but we finished bad in points — 14th — but we still won four races. So, looking back at it, I’d rather have the four trophies, but it would be nice to be able to figure out the consistency side of it.

Can Alex Bowman redeem himself in 2022?

For a driver who had the unenviable job of taking over the seat that Jimmie Johnson vacated, it was a lot of pressure. Now, the 2022 Cup Series season is almost upon us with the brand new Next Gen cars.

With nobody knowing how the pecking order will be, this is Bowman’s best chance to take advantage. If he and his #48 team can interpret the new rules and adapt to the car quickest, he will be in a strong position. However, Alex Bowman will be aware that his teammates, Chase Elliott, and newly crowned champion Kyle Larson will be no slouches. There are also other teams like Joe Gibbs Racing, Team Penske, Stewart-Haas, and many more, to worry about. It will be interesting to see how the new season shapes up.
