2023 might just be the biggest year for Bubba Wallace —that includes not just his NASCAR season but also his life. It got off to a great start as he finally tied the knot with his girlfriend, Amanda Wallace (neé Carter). With the pre-season close to ending and the new season on the horizon, Wallace’s eyes will now be firmly on the prize. The 2022 season was in distinct halves for the 23XI Racing driver.

A very disappointing first half where he had 5 DNFs meant Wallace was more or less out of the race for a place in the Championship 4. The performances, however, meteorically improved in the second half of the season.

At the end of the season, he said, “Just having conversations [recently] about how we are so much better as a team and as a manufacturer from Phoenix [race] one to Phoenix [race] two, it just makes you think about how much better you’ll be starting the year off.

“It took us all year to figure out this car; we’re still figuring it out day by day. Having the right people in our camp and back at the shop figuring all that out to get us ready and prepped for next year is super exciting.”

Wallace and 23XI will be hoping that the same form and momentum carries over to the 2023 season. A playoff seat is a minimum the driver would be expected of.

Bubba Wallace can do only wrong

Wallace has been enjoying his life since he finally got to marry Amanda. With no racing burdens at the moment, they have been very active on social media. Their latest adventure however drew contrasting reactions.

Most of Bubba’s colleagues from the sport loved it. Denny Hamlin’s wife, Jordan Fish commented “First slide 😂❤️,” while Daniel Suarez wrote, “That was a strong tortilla 💥 right there! Hahahaha 😂. ” Kenny Wallace also commented, “😂😂😂😂😂,” while Kurt Busch and William Byron, from Hendrick Motorsports, left their likes on the post. But for fans of the sport—this was a bit much.

Comments included, “Not sure how you thought this was ok but ummmm…🤔” and “So that’s how it works in their house, I guess. Go figure.” Other negative takes on the video were: “I wouldn’t want to be slapped in the face even it was just a tortilla.” and “That was a little bit of a hard slap my dude. Not a great look”
