Most days in the motorsports world are filled with excitement and cheer, but the sport has also seen some dreadful days. One such day was witnessed recently at the Chili Bowl Nationals. The spectators at the Wednesday preliminary race of the Chili Bowl Nationals watched helplessly as Ashton Torgerson’s car flipped over multiple times in a terrifying crash.

Ashton Torgerson made his debut in the Chili Bowl this year. The 16-year-old driver crashed while on his 11th of 30 laps. Torgerson was running seventh in the preliminary race when the unfortunate crash happened. Torgerson clipped the wall, and his car turned sideways and flipped a few times, making him eject violently from the car.

Three days after the crash, there was an update on Torgerson. The good news is that he appears to be on the road to recovery after suffering serious injuries. Matt Weaver, a motorsports Journalist posted the update on his Twitter handle. He wrote, “Ashton Torgerson has been cleared to check out of the hospital.”

Fans were quick to send in well wishes for Torgerson’s speedy recovery. Many consider him lucky to have survived the horrifying crash, and a fan jokingly suggested that he should buy lottery tickets.

Ashton Torgerson’s crash led to safety concerns

Torgerson started racing go-karts at the age of 4, working his way up to dirt racing. He began riding mini monster trucks when he was just 11 years old. The young driver has ten years of experience behind the wheel and has won a lot of competitions. He also teamed up with Kyle Busch’s Rowdy Energy for Micro Sprint Season 2022.

The recent accident involving Torgerson has ignited a debate in the motorsports world. The scary crash has created a lot of buzz around driver safety. The Motorsports world has been showing a lot of concern.

Many followers of the Chili Bowl, which has been called the biggest midget car race of the year by NASCAR, believe it to be necessary to spread safety awareness. Some fans, despite appreciating the fact that driver safety has evolved over the years, feel that it still needs a lot of work so such incidents can be avoided. A few concerned fans even think it might not be wise to show the in-detail video of the crash.
