With just 32 laps remaining to the checkered flag, trouble found Corey LaJoie in turn 2. The Spire Motorsports driver really put on the heat with a P4 finish in stage 1 and looked like he was on a mission to get the #7 Chevy across the finish until he was allegedly sent for a spin in turn 2.

The whole racing community was shocked to see such a terrific run having this sort of fallout. While the Spire Motorsports driver spun off into the wall, all eyes were on the #6 Ford of Brad Keselowski behind him as many claimed it was all the veteran’s doing, pushing LaJoie to send him for a spin.

LaJoie brought out another caution after he spun out of control from the 18th spot. The team radio reveals that #6 Ford driver Brad Keselowski, who was just behind him when the #7 spun around, might have gotten into him. LaJoie, who was at once running in the top five in this race, was later undone after the late race slip-up ended up dropping LaJoie to the rear.

While the #6 looked like it had something to do with this, the replays clearly showed that there was no contact between the #7 and #6, and LaJoie simply got loose on the turn and ended up spinning only to nudge the outer barrier with a flat tire. This is indeed a tough break for LaJoie, who had been having an excellent run for much of the first half of the day.

The proud Chevy team really flexed its muscle, with both of its drivers, Corey LaJoie and Carson Hocevar, heating things up with a fiery run to the top. Where Lajoie landed 4th, Carson Hocevar also hung close to the top 10 after the first stage.

When Stage 1 ended, LaJoie picked up a well-deserved P7 finish, while Hocevar crossed the line in 14th. Shortly in Stage 2, the duo changed gears, and the #7 driver was spotted taking the fight to the race leaders, giving them a run for their money, battling it out in 3rd place at one point on Lap 89.

As for Carson Hocevar, he made a slick pass, cruising in the top 15. Even the respective team rose to the occasion, with Lajoie’s pit crew being on fire today. In fact, it was their slick work during the pit stops that catapulted him to 4th at the restart. The #7 Chevrolet wasn’t just hanging with the leaders; it was there because it deserved to be, even breezing past Kyle Larson and Martin Truex Jr to claim second at one point. We’re seeing some real gains from that team in 2024.
