It is quite usual for sportspersons to have rivals in the game. Rivalries are almost essential in a sport like NASCAR, however, sometimes they can get too far. They can be highly distracting and can wreak havoc on the track. Something similar was experienced by Josh Williams, the same Xfinity driver who was embroiled in a recent controversy with NASCAR.

Williams appeared in a recent episode of the Door Bumper Clear podcast, where he talked about one of his fiercest rivals that has caused him a lot of trouble. The racer couldn’t help but provide a detailed version of how his rival clung to him from early on in the race at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Josh Williams’s rival became a nightmare for him in Atlanta

Josh Williams was conversing with the hosts about the differences he felt between the old and the repaved Atlanta track. He then went on to disclose that it was Sage Karam who became a nightmare for him during the race.

Expressing his frustration, Williams gave frame-by-frame details of his encounter with Sage Karam. He said, “He [Karam] comes from the trunk, and I’m wrecking’ loose, and he gets to me and he runs me down. Picks me up, turns me sideways. He never lets go of me. I’m like, ‘Bro, we’re fixing a wreck.’

“So he finally lets go of me, I hang on to it, then he rolls my outside, sucks the air off of me. So I’m still sideways, middle of 3, I’m like, ‘What are you doing? We’re on like lap 12.'”

It seems that Sage Karam has caused problems for Williams in the past too, as he later exclaimed, “I’ve had problems with him every time he races.” The co-hosts also agreed with him, insinuating that Karam has problems with everyone.

However, Williams later added, “He [Karam] is a good guy to talk to, good cool dude.” But on track, Karam’s obsession with Josh seems to have no cure. However, after the recent debacle, it seems like Josh Williams is not the most level-headed driver either.

Sage Karam is not the only big-time troublemaker in the Xfinity circuit, Josh Williams himself was at the center of a major controversy. The #92 driver was seen disrespecting direct orders during the latest Xfinity race in Atlanta.

Williams was caught up in a wreck and sustained damage. He was asked to park his car by the race officials as it was deemed a safety hazard. Williams, either out of  frustration or due to miscommunication, parked it at the start-finish line, got out, and walked down to the pit lane.

His dramatic exit did mean that he broke a few rules, so he had to face the consequences. Following his act, NASCAR suspended him for a race. The opinion is still divided about his actions, however, there is no denying that his “protest” was quite entertaining for the fans.
