“Perfect Race With a Perfect Car” – Austin Cindric Reflects on His Stellar Run to Clinch the NASCAR Xfinity Series Title

With the 2020 season done and dusted, it was time for NASCAR to honor the newly crowned champions. Among them was 2020 Xfinity champion, Austin Cindric, who looked back on the season. He confessed that he felt a variety of emotions and is still trying to comprehend the feeling of being a champion.

Cindric even opened up about the restart at the Phoenix Raceway. He said, “I thought we would wreck there, for a second. Kudos to those guys, they raced hard and fair all race.

“That was a tough fight and I felt like we had it covered the easy way and we had them going the hard way on new tires.”

Looking at his success this season, Austin Cindric analyzed it from a number of different angles. He attributed his success to the team for helping him along his journey to the 2020 Xfinity crown.

Admittedly, it was a fairly sluggish start for Cindric, as he did not win a single race until July. The 22-year-old picked up a win at Kentucky and there was no looking back from there. To be exact, he notched up a hat-trick of wins, before taking another two wins at Road America and Daytona. Later, on, he did just enough to stay alive in the Playoffs, before winning the season finale at Phoenix.

Speaking about finally opening his win account, Austin Cindric confessed that he felt relieved, more than anything. This was because he and the team knew they had a fast car, but were often victims of bad luck. This is why he was truly happy when July rolled by, as it marked a turnaround in his and the team’s fortune.

“It was nice to have all that success in a short amount of time. In a year that I felt like was defined by all the races we didn’t win. The races we weren’t able to have the perfect race or the perfect car. It all together through having the perfect race with a perfect car at the perfect time,” Cindric said.

He also declared that the races he missed out on a victory and the races he won defined his NASCAR season. All in all, when he had the perfect car and the perfect season, it just felt right.
