One of the biggest names in the American media and television landscape, Bill Maher, recently gave out a shout-out to NASCAR rolling into La La Land. On a recent episode of his show, Maher mentioned the upcoming Busch Clash at the Coliseum.

The exhibition race, which will be the curtain-raiser for NASCAR’s next season, its next era, and its Next Gen, will take place in the iconic LA Coliseum after the football stadium was turned into a temporary racetrack within weeks.

As his show began, Bill Maher said to his audience, “You are..in a crazy good mood. I think I know why. It’s probably because NASCAR is here.”

“It’s new in LA, we have NASCAR, there’s something we’ve never seen before – traffic moving,” Maher joked as the audience burst into laughter.

NASCAR could plan two more years of moving traffic in LA

According to a recent report, the first Clash at the Coliseum won’t simply be ‘one and done’ kind of event. This is because there is a deal in place between NASCAR and the University of Southern California, who operates the venue, to have the Clash on the calendar at least until 2024.

However, the trigger is in NASCAR’s hands as they can decide whether to exercise the two-year extension beyond this year.

Speaking about stock cars returning to the Coliseum, NASCAR’s executive vice president Steve O’Donnell said, “We’ll all sit down as a group and talk about what went well.”

“What we could possibly tweak. If we want to go ahead there for an additional year, or there’s other areas we may want to explore, domestic or even outside of the U.S., as well,” he added.

It goes without saying that NASCAR’s chances of returning to Los Angeles depend largely upon the success of this weekend’s event.

And if it does go well, NASCAR will have 90 days or until May 6 to make up their mind on whether to treat the fans in Los Santos with a couple more years of moving traffic.
