Should Ryan Newman ever choose to set aside his racing helmet and conclude his illustrious career, he’ll inevitably confront the age-old inquiry every driver faces: What legacy will you leave behind? As of now, the title of “2023 SRX Champion” would likely headline his response. Yet, it appears Newman is charting a fresh course for himself, revisiting a path he hadn’t tread in a decade.

A resurgent Ryan Newman is set for a thrilling return

Recognized as one of NASCAR’s 75 greatest drivers, Ryan Newman’s exceptional performance in the SRX season?Tony Stewart‘s brainchild?cannot be understated. With a triumphant win at Stafford Motor Speedway in a span of six races, Newman clinched the series championship.

Yet, contrastingly, in the NASCAR Cup season, Newman’s sporadic five appearances fetched him a best of P27. Recalling his Xfinity Series exploits, he last graced the track in 2012 at Texas, securing a P19 finish under the banner of Turner Motorsports. But the narrative is poised for a twist at the Homestead race track.

MBM Motorsports recently announced that Newman, at 45, is slated to re-enter the NASCAR Xfinity Series fray after nearly a decade. He will commandeer the No. 66 Ford Mustang for MBM Motorsports in the forthcoming showdown at Homestead-Miami Speedway. Joining forces with Newman and the No. 66 crew is the primary sponsor for the Contender Boats 300 event, GenerX Generators, a Florida-based enterprise familiar with backing MBM Motorsports.

Given Newman’s affinity for the 1.5-mile speedway in Miami, which ranks among his top choices in the NASCAR National Series, anticipation brews over the spectacle he might conjure. Nonetheless, the timing of his Xfinity re-entry has certainly set the fanbase abuzz with some judgmental opinions.

Ryan Newman’s Xfinity return sparks banter among enthusiasts

Earlier this year, the NASCAR community was privy to 47-year-old Kevin Harvick’s declaration of his retirement, set to conclude with the 2023 Cup Season. In an unexpected twist, Ryan Newman, just a couple of years shy of Harvick’s age, is charting his return path to NASCAR. This intriguing juxtaposition did not go unnoticed by the NASCAR aficionados. MBM Motorsports’ announcement was met with a wave of exhilaration on Reddit, where fans, with a cheeky undertone, quipped, ?I am glad the SRX Championship is opening up doors for this youngster Newman to give NASCAR a shot.”

Another jestingly remarked, ?Can’t wait to see what this kid can do!” while highlighting the seasoned age of Newman’s re-entry. A third joined the chorus: “These young kids are going to find out that passing ain’t that easy.”

Yet, the jests weren’t solely fixated on Newman’s “youthful” return. Many admirers lauded the SRX victor for allying with a grassroots outfit like MBM. “Really cool that Newman is willing to go drive for small teams like MBM. Hope he gets the 66 in the show and gives it their best run of the year. Would love to see him back next year running races for MBM in Xfinity or cup or RWR in Cup.”

Many tipped their hats to SRX for spotlighting worthy talents, asserting, “ANOTHER SRX WINNER GETTING THEIR SHOT” and “I know it’s a long shot, but I wanna see the rocket man get one more front row starting spot. This is awesome to see.” Given Newman’s impressive record at the Homestead track, including 20 starts and 8 top-10s, enthusiasts are keenly awaiting to see if he can echo his 2021 performance, where he secured a commendable 7th place.
