A picture is worth a thousand words. And the recent photos posted on Richard Petty’s Instagram handle speak louder than any explanation. Recently, Petty made some public comments about how he was unhappy with Jimmie Johnson “running the show” at Legacy Motor Club (LMC). Furthermore, Johnson was obviously upset with Petty’s comments and expressed his disappointment during his interview with the Associated Press.

Both Johnson and Petty have won the NASCAR Cup Series championship title seven times during their career. And seeing them together at LMC was nothing less than legendary for fans. But with both drivers airing their dirty laundry in public, speculations about them not getting along began doing rounds.

However, this recent Instagram post by Richard Petty silences all the rumors. King Petty, who has never missed a Daytona 500 shared photos of himself with Johnson, who was participating in Sunday’s Daytona 500. In one of the photos, the duo was seen smiling with Petty’s arm around Johnsons’s shoulder.

Gauging from the picture, it seems that the two have probably decided to leave their public feud behind them.

What had Richard Petty and Jimmie Johnson said?

In his conversation ahead of the Daytona 500 race, NASCAR Hall of Famer Richard Petty indicated that Jimmie Johnson’s rise of power in Legacy Motor Club kind of bothered him. He said,

“It’s been strange to me. Most of the time, I ran the majority of the show. Jimmie brought all his people in. His way of running things and my way of running things are probably a little bit different. We probably agree on about 50% of what it really comes down to.”

His words obviously didn’t sit well with Jimmie Johnson who said he was disappointed by Petty’s words. Explaining that Petty never expressed these concerns to him, Johnson revealed,

“Honestly, there are a lot of moving pieces to this. There are business decisions that are taking place between Mr Gallagher and the Petty family before I ever arrived. Those are details that are just not my place to say.”

Furthermore, Johnson said that a lot of what Petty stated in his comments was based on business decisions that Petty and his family had made. He also added that most of these decisions weren’t related to Johnson’s involvement and also shared that Petty has always been kind and wonderful to him throughout his career.
