Jimmie Johnson is looking forward to his IndyCar stint

As per his contract with Chip Ganassi Racing, the 45-year-old will race in the open-wheel series for two seasons. Obviously, nobody expects him to be competitive right off the bat. This is because the IndyCar machine is a completely different beast compared to a NASCAR one.

The 45-year-old bowed out of his final Cup Series race, driving a special chrome Ally paint scheme. He then joined teammate Chase Elliott’s championship celebrations before parking his car for the last time.

Once the NASCAR veteran clambered out of his No. 48 Chevrolet Camaro, that was when the reality hit him. Everybody at NASCAR will miss him dearly, and so will the fans.
