When it was announced last season that Brad Keselowski would leave Team Penske and join Roush Fenway Racing as a driver and part-owner, almost everyone began to expect big things from the newly formed Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing team.

It was only fair, all those expectations. Because the former Penske man not only brought his own prowess as a driver but his desire to succeed as an owner as well.

This combination is most certainly going to fit a team that has won only two races since 2014 and none since 2017.

So three races down this season so far and RFK Racing is almost like a team reborn. Although they don’t have a race win to show yet, their driver-owner is not short on confidence and belief in his team.

In a recent interview, Keselowski was asked why he thinks he would win the championship this season.

“I think we got a new team with a lot of energy that’s super hungry. And combined with that, I’m super hungry, got something to prove and the resources to do it,” went Keselowski’s answer.

Though one wonders, is Brad Keselowski a little too hungry for his own and more importantly, the rest of the field’s good?

Brad Keselowski so far this season

In the three races this season, at Daytona, at Fontana, and Las Vegas, there has been one common thread – Brad Keselowski either wrecking himself, or the other drivers, or both at the same time.

In Daytona 500, Keselowski ran havoc through the field, first collecting Denny Hamlin and Harrison Burton, and later spinning Ricky Stenhouse Jr into the wall.

Then came Fontana where, not due to his fault entirely, he and Bubba Wallace made contact.

And more recently in Las Vegas, Keselowski found himself on the receiving end of his former teammate, Ryan Blaney’s rant, after he made contact and wrecked him.

So considering the number of incidents Brad Keselowski has been involved in the short stretch of racing action which is behind us, him saying he is “super hungry” to win the title could be a concern for his fellow drivers.

Regardless, it is racing, and more importantly, it is NASCAR.
