Kenneth Paul Block, or Ken Block as we all popularly knew him, was a well-known figure in Rally Car racing. While he had two FIA World RallyCross podiums to his name, it was the Gymkhana videos he put out on YouTube that garnered him such a fandom. The cities, tracks, or venues didn’t matter, the way he controlled his car was just inhumane at times leaving everyone scratching their heads. While he may have parted ways with his mortal life, his magic still mesmerizes us all today.

It was on January 2, 2023, when the 55-year-old Block died in a tragic accident. He was driving a snowmobile on a steep slope in the Mill Hollow area outside, Woodland Utah. As per the report laid out by the police, the snowmobile landed on top of Block which led to his demise. It has been one year since the motorsports world lost an icon, and the fans and some big players remembered the Gymkhana freak, paying him tributes.

Roush Fenway Keselowski Racing pays tribute to Ken Block

Ken Block’s influence spread far and wide and yes, the NASCAR community also adored him. RFK Racing was also quick to send out a tribute message for Ken Block and was amongst the first ones to do so. It was not just a normal tribute as they paid homage to Ken Block with a theme specific to him on their No.6 Ford car in the post.

RFK Racing took to X and paid tribute with the message, “One year ago today, we lost Ken Block. A true icon and visionary in the world of motorsports, we pause to take a moment and reflect on his great additions to the world of racing. Thank you, Ken. ❤️ #43ever”.

This was not the first time, the RFK Racing paid their tribute to Block. Last year back in January following the death of Block, the NASCAR team unveiled a livery they drove at the NASCAR test at Phoneix. It was co-owner Brad Keselowski who donned this special scheme No.6 Ford. The scheme was inspired by a Ford Fiesta EV that Block raced in the World RX-supporting Project E Series in late 2022.

Although Ken Block’s death means no more fresh Gymkhana videos, Hoonigan had a small surprise for his fans and they cannot get enough of it.

It was on December 6, 2023, that Hoonigan uploaded a video on their YouTube channel. The video was titled, Electrikhana TWO: One More Playground; Mexico City. As the title suggests, he was riding in an Audi S1 Hoonitron and went about his usual business, that is to blow our minds with his amazing driving skills.

The whole video was shot in Mexico City. He launched the Hoonitron out of the world’s largest bullring, Plaza de Toros. From there on he dashes his car through some of the iconic areas of the city. The highlight was his session at the Benito Juarez International Airport. It all was perfectly summed up with a Gymkhana tribute to his videos from 2008 to 2022.

There won’t ever be another Ken Block. Thank you for leaving us with some fond memories and a whole lot of videos for us to reminisce.
