For a few years, NASCAR has been developing the Next-Gen car and a lot of work has gone into it. Unfortunately, this has also given rise to concerns about the lack of supplies. Surprisingly, the Richard Childress Racing team is not too worried about running out of spare parts.

Team owner Richard Childress said, “You’ve always got some concerns, but I think NASCAR is approaching it right from a safety standpoint. Because we went back after each team test, the crash test, and they’d go back and make changes to make the car safer and better, and I think that’s one reason we kind of got behind. NASCAR’s number one thing is safety with this car.”

The RCR team owner confessed that the outfit has built two cars per driver. In other words, as long as his drivers can keep things clean, they should be alright. Luckily, both Austin Dillon and Tyler Reddick ended their sessions in one piece, because even one crash could prove catastrophic.

There is some good news for Richard Childress

To make matters even better, the organization is expected to build at least two more spare cars. If all goes well, the extra cars will be ready by the Busch Light Clash at the L.A. Coliseum in February. According to reports, the target for each team is five cars each by the time the season kicks off.

There is a maximum limit of seven cars, and a lot of teams are in the same situation. In other words, nobody has an advantage of an extra car over their rivals. At the same time, no one can afford to be too crash-happy, as these cars are expensive.

Additionally, the body of the cars is one thing, but the various smaller parts are a whole different kettle of fish.
