After Kyle Larson collected his first win of the season in Fontana, he claimed he hopes it’s a start of a winning streak. And that streak could begin this weekend in Las Vegas.

However, in Sin City, Larson and his team, Hendrick Motorsports won’t just be racing for the win, but for a bigger cause.

This is because HMS recently announced their plans to donate money to Samaritan’s Purse amidst the Ukraine crisis.

Journalist Jenna Fryer tweeted, “Rick Hendrick and Hendrick Automotive have committed $200,000 to Samaritan’s Purse to support disaster assistance. Hendrick will also contribute $2,000 toward Ukraine relief for each lap led by an HMS car.”

“Like the rest of the world, our family has watched the worsening crisis in Ukraine with shock and sadness. We’ve been especially struck by the needless suffering inflicted on innocent children.”

Hendrick added, “NASCAR provides us with an incredibly powerful platform, and I believe we have a moral obligation to use it to help people in need. We hope to encourage others to support Ukraine, whether it be through Samaritan’s Purse or one of the other organizations.”

Kyle Larson hoping to restore peace at Hendrick

During the race in his native state, Kyle Larson ‘unknowingly’ shoved his teammate Chase Elliott into the wall. This led to a major outburst from the 2020 Cup champion that made all the headlines for its brutal nature.

But in the post-race conference, the race winner admitted that he wasn’t aware of Elliott’s presence, that he was so involved in racing Joey Logano ahead of him, he forgot to check his mirror.

Yet Kyle Larson said that he intends to make things right with his teammate. He claimed he would never do what he did “on purpose”.

“I know that they’re upset, but we’ll talk and hopefully get on the same page,” Larson said. “I would never run into my teammate or block him that aggressively that late on purpose.”
