Life is unpredictable. As NASCAR prepared for its maiden street course run, yesterday’s developments shocked the entire racing community. NASCAR off week saw Legacy Motor Club reveal a Chicago-special livery for Jimmie Johnson’s #84 Carvana Chevrolet. Not now, Jimmie Johnson has pulled out of the upcoming Chicago event in light of his recent family tragedy.

NASCAR yesterday had issued a statement regarding Jimmie Johnson’s horrific family tragedy. Now Rick Hendrick and other racing greats have come forth, showing their support to the grieving Johnson family.

Possible ‘Murder-Suicide’ Shatters Jimmie Johnson and His Family

Around 9 p.m. yesterday, a 911 call reported disturbances in Jimmie Johnson’s in-laws’ Muskogee home. Police arrived on the scene, discovering the bodies of Johnson’s in-laws’ Jack and Terry Janway, and their 11-year-old grandson, Dalton Janway.

Going by reports of the Muskogee police, it is suspected that Terry Janway shot her husband and grandson in an apparent ‘murder-suicide’. Following the bone-chilling developments, Legacy Motor Club withdrew their #84 team from the upcoming Chicago event, issuing a statement, “LEGACY MOTOR CLUB has elected to withdraw the No. 84 Carvana Chevrolet from this weekend’s NASCAR Cup Series event in Chicago. The Johnson family has asked for privacy at this time and no further statements will be made.”

Grieving the tragic loss faced by its seven-time champion, NASCAR too issued a statement, “We are saddened by the tragic deaths of members of Chandra Johnson’s family. The entire NASCAR family extends its deepest support and condolences during this difficult time to Chandra, Jimmie and the entire Johnson & Janway families.”

According to Bob Pockrass, Hendrick Motorsports owner Rick Hendrick also extended his support to Jimmie Johnson in a statement saying, “Our family and entire team are all grieving with Chani, Jimmie and their loved ones. This is a truly unthinkable tragedy, and our hearts are broken for them. I’ve been in touch with Jimmie and offered our love, support and the full resources of our organization in whatever capacity they need.”

Following the statement from Rick Hendrick, Jenson Button, and Kenny Wallace, too, mourned the NASCAR star’s family tragedy, sending their condolences to Jimmie Johnson.

Racing World Extend Their Support to Jimmie Johnson

Reacting to the tragic news surrounding Jimmie Johnson’s family, Kenny Wallace took to Twitter, sending his prayers to the Johnson family. “Crushing blow. My prayers to @JimmieJohnson and Chandra and family [sad emoji] [heart emoji]”, Wallace wrote.

Joining others in mourning, former F1 world champion and Jimmie Johnson’s teammate at The 24 Hours of Le Mans, Jenson Button too expressed his grief. Button wrote on Twitter, “Sending love and prayers to my team mate Jimmie, Chandra and the whole Johnson family at this devastating time. [praying emoji] [broken heart emoji]”.

Such tragic loss tremendous strength to recuperate. We too send our prayers to our beloved Jimmie Johnson and his family.
