Brad Keselowski’s exit from Team Penske has been debatable and he is usually a hit for his playful banter with the media, but sometimes he might take it a bit too far. Recently, he tried to crack a joke, but it ended up falling flat and even making things awkward, not just for NASCAR fans but also for some insiders, including Roger Penske‘s employee. He thought it was in poor taste when Keselowski equated his car with his wife. But what did Brad Keselowski, say to ruffle feathers at his old teammate?

Roger Penske’s employee thinks maybe owning a team changes the perspective

With a little over 30 laps left at Talladega, a nudge in the corner led to a rear bump that triggered a massive crash. Jones slammed head-on into the wall and immediately mentioned back pain over his radio. Although initially cleared at the infield care center, he later headed to a Birmingham hospital for more checks and ended up with a compression fracture, putting him on the sidelines for the next race in Dover.

Stepping into the spotlight, Truck Series driver Corey Heim got the nod to make his Cup Series debut in Eric Jones‘s #43 car. When Brad Keselowski was asked how he’d feel about someone else driving his car, he quipped,  “Seeing somebody else drive the car, I mean, I’ve never seen somebody else sleep with my wife but I’d imagine that’d be what it’s like. Terrible feeling.” While in Brad Keselowski’s head, it might have sounded funny, but the comment didn’t exactly go over well with Roger Penske’s employee, Skip Flores.

While chatting with Corey LaJoie, Skip Flores, a tire changer for Ryan Blaney’s crew, seemed pretty baffled by what was said. Even LaJoie thought it was over the top to drop a comment like that on TV. Flores exclaimed“I don’t know I don’t know that I’m going that far to say that. I just yeah I think that I hold my wife in higher regard to my race car. But whatever you know I don’t Brad owns the team. Maybe it’s a different deal.”

However, later, trying to smooth things over, the pair figured maybe it was meant to be a funny line that just didn’t land right. But we all know Brad Keselowski most definitely holds the title of being one of NASCAR’s most romantic drivers. And on his 7th anniversary, Brad took it to social media and wrote a fitting note to his better half, “Happy 7th anniversary to the woman who is the center of our family and quite literally the glue that holds it all together.” But again, it could be an instant reaction or an analogy that Brad would hate to look back at.

Moreover, it wasn’t just Roger Penske’s crew that found it weird—fans also thought the comparison was a bit much. They cracked jokes like“Well then…thats a comparison,” “Priorities right!! Lmao,” and “Likely , the least impressed with this analogy is Brad’s wife.” But maybe, just maybe, if Brad can manage to win at Kansas, it might just help everyone, including NASCAR fans, move past his awkward comment.

The lineup for the NASCAR Cup AdventHealth 400 at Kansas includes nine drivers who’ve previously taken the checkered flag there. Denny Hamlin is set to lead this pack, having clinched last year’s spring race for a record fourth win at this 1.5-mile tri-oval in its 23-year history.

But what about Brad Keselowski? The 2012 Cup champ and co-owner/driver for RFK Racing has racked up 35 career Cup wins, with two of those at Kansas in 2011 and 2019. Although Keselowski, hasn’t won in his last 108 starts, he’s been knocking at the door with second-place finishes at Fort Worth and Talladega last month. With 7 top-5s and fourteen top-10s in 28 starts at Kansas, including a ninth-place finish last fall, he’s no stranger to this track.

Keselowski’s average finish at Kansas is 16.8, with a modest eight laps led. So, while it might be a bit of a stretch, we can’t count him out—Keselowski definitely knows his way around Kansas and could very well pull off a win.
