The recent Cup Series race held at the Circuit of The Americas turned out to be an unpleasant experience for the fans. The race went into triple overtime, resulting in an extension of the race by a whopping seven laps. This robbed the fans of entertainment, and criticism was very much visible. In the latest episode of his podcast, the 23XI Racing co-owner, Denny Hamlin, opened up about the race being ridiculous.

Why did the race at COTA turn out to be ridiculous?

The race turned out to be a disaster from the beginning to the very end. But it was the last stage of the race that really made it a bad experience.

Being an owner, Denny could relate to other owners’ problems and said, “More than likely if you’re listening to this, your driver probably got spun or wrecked at the end of that race and you’re probably tired of it as well.

Hamlin criticized the triple overtime that took place during the closing laps of the race. He felt it was worthless to spend so much time completing the final laps. The restarts really bothered him very much on which he said, “So I think just taking an hour to run the last few laps is just ridiculous.
