The iconic Daytona race actually lived up to its reputation on the 192nd lap. With a mere nine laps left on the clock, “The Big One” hit, sweeping up most of the pack. Amidst the chaos under the red flag, it was pretty hard to tell which cars had escaped the major wreck unscathed.

Still, it looked like Ross Chastain, Alex Bowman, William Byron, Austin Cindric, Chase Elliott, and Christopher Bell were among the survivors. The frenzy kicked off when Bowman’s aggressive nudge at Byron set off a chain reaction. The latter, losing control, veered into Brad Keselowski, and the ripple effect caught up with Joey Logano and his teammate Ryan Blaney, who had been leading the charge in Stage 2.

The chaos unfolded with an 18-car pile-up, roping in Kyle Larson, Brad Keselowski, Noah Gragson, Denny Hamlin, Ryan Blaney, Chase Briscoe, Chris Buescher, Martin Truex Jr, Joey Logano, Daniel Hemric, Todd Gilliland, Ryan Preece, Erik Jones, Tyler Reddick, Ricky Stenhouse Jr, Ty Gibbs, Anthony Alfredo, and Daniel Suarez, and pausing the race for a tense 15 minutes and 27 seconds.

Logano, fresh out of his wrecked car, didn’t hold back, and expressed his frustration with the nature of speedway racing. He said, “It’s speedway racing. It’s a lot of fun until it s*cks.”

Ryan Blaney, on the other hand, appeared more resigned than riled up, reflecting on the race’s endgame. “Well, I’m definitely not as frustrated as after I was after Thursday night. This was just, you know, racing at the end of 500. This one didn’t hurt Neil, he’s bad. So that’s nice. But yeah, shame. I thought we had a shot at it. Up in the first, you know, for you few rows, we would be kind of second in the road, depending on where the block was kind of road. And though we were in a decent spot, especially the #6 gets the inside of the wall and I could kind of finally get behind Joey and try to get hooked up with him,” he mused.

Continuing, Blaney shared, “Yeah, just unfortunate man with our peak in ours before Mustang really fast. But yeah, the wheel got I got turn That was yeah, and then they had a wheel snap. They usually let go of the wheel, but I didn’t think they had anything in it. So yeah, I’m okay. My wrist is good and just one of those weird deals, but Friday after by the 12 boys chain with a couple race cars, but going next week.”

Well, finally it was Hendrick Motorsports and William Byron’s day. While Austin Cindric did try and push William Byron to the lead, Ross Chastain spun from 2nd and collected Austin Cindric bringing out the caution and ending the race just after the leader took the white flag to get the win when the caution came out.
