Ryan Blaney is undoubted one of the most talented drivers in NASCAR and is a great personality away from the track. Quite recently, he and teammate Joey Logano were in the Fox Sports commentary booth at Fontana, California. The Team Penske duo was commentating during the Xfinity Series race at the Auto Club Speedway.

Sometime during the broadcast, a promo for the Cup Series race popped up. This was when people noticed a glaring issue, as it featured Logano, Denny Hamlin, Bubba Wallace, Kyle Larson, and Chase Elliott. Meanwhile, Blaney’s picture was completely absent from it, something that the Fox commentators pointed out.

Logano tried to lighten the mood by commenting on the ‘bad’ picture of him. However, Blaney declared that it would be his ‘last booth appearance’. Of course, co-commentator Adam Alexander did a bit of damage control, saying that he will be there for the Las Vegas promo. However, when the Fontana promo aired again, Blaney had had enough. He said, “Y’all enjoy the end of this race, I’m out of here.”

How did Fox Sports make it up to Ryan Blaney?

Blaney suggested that they add an image of him, and make it small. He insisted that he did not want the spotlight, but wanted to just be involved. Later on, after that race weekend, the #12 Team Penske driver was in for a pleasant surprise. This was because they showed him a promo for the Las Vegas Cup race, solely dedicated to him.

Needless to say, he was quite happy and admitted that he appreciated Fox Sports’ gesture. He confessed that he threatened to not come back around that time. However, Blaney justified himself, saying that he needed to ‘lay the law down’, and then he managed to get his way. Of course, Ryan Blaney will be back in the Fox Sports booth to commentate during the Xfinity race again. So, he will be eager to see if Fox Sports will air the same promo again, or a new one that adds more drivers.
