In September last year, Trackhouse Racing pulled off a savvy move by securing Zane Smith through a loan deal with Spire Motorsports. It locked in the 2022 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Champion with a multi-year handshake. The plan? To rev up three full-time NASCAR Cup Series cars by 2025.

Meanwhile, Smith’s gearing up to hit the track full-time in the Cup Series come 2024. But it was the off-season that gave Smith the golden chance to gel with his new squad, and it looks like he nailed it. He recently shared some insights on the same and gave a thumbs up to the team spirit.

Zane Smith was recently caught by the folks at Racing America to inquire about his new gig at Spire Motorsports. Smith’s response was actually brimming with excitement for his upcoming stint with Trackhouse Racing, and he couldn’t help but rave about the team’s dynamic growth.

He enthused, “I mean, what you named was just the drivers that that we’ve have underneath the building, but the personnel that Spire has acquired is phenomenal. It’s great people that they have making these race cars go fast, um the leadership behind this team is outstanding. And it’s just awesome to be a part of. And like I said, the things that Spire is adding seems like every day, and the names that they’re uh adding to this race team is just awesome to be a part of. So excited to get this year going and be a part of this group.”

When asked about his vision of success in 2024, Smith was candid about the steep learning curve in a rookie Cup season. He shared that navigating in your first year in the Cup is no small feat. But for him, “I don’t know; for me, it’s just having steady progression come year end. I want my arrow facing upwards instead of downwards and still making progression. But I guess ultimately wanting the Rookie of the Year Award, right? But I feel like Spire is going to surprise a lot of people this year, and hopefully we can be a part of it.”
