The world of NASCAR got to witness a variety of controversies after the Pocono 400 last week. NASCAR nation saw the Hamlin–Larson, Dillon–Reddick, and even Hamlin–Bowman fallouts. It was expected one of the following pairs would be exchanging a few words with each other at some point after the race.

A furious Ryan Preece physically attacked Corey LaJoie after getting out of his car. LaJoie’s contact with Preece at the very end of the race spun him out of contention and he had no option but to retire as the races ended with the caution. Later, LaJoie issued an apology agreeing that it was his fault. While he admitted he never intended to spin Preece out, in the latest episode of his podcast, LaJoie can be heard taking a jab at Preece with his friends.

Corey LaJoie poked fun at Ryan Preece for the Pocono incident

Corey LaJoie usually doesn’t shy away from controversies. In the past, LoJoie has been involved in a handful of incidents and speaking his mind out. On the other hand, Ryan Preece is someone who rarely expresses himself and likes to race fair.

However, after the incident at the Pocono Raceway, fans got to witness his other side. As he jumped out of his car and ran towards LaJoie’s car, in the video released by NASCAR, Preece three some punches and hurled abuse toward LaJoie who was still inside the car until some of the mechanics grabbed Preece and pulled him out.

Later, LaJoie did issue an apology for spinning Preece out of the race. However, he added that it wasn’t his intention to spin Preece out and it was just a racing incident. The dust seemed to have settled right before the Richmond race when LaJoie dropped the latest episode of his podcast Stacking Pennies.

In the first few minutes of the podcast, while talking about milkshakes, LaJoie and his friends can be heard poking fun at Ryan Preece. They can be heard saying, “Punch him in the face, Ryan Preece.” And LaJoie asked, “You know what I like?” One of his friends replied, “Spinning people out.”

Even though the controversy seemed to have settled down pretty nicely, there has not been a statement from Preece. Despite the debacle at Pocono, Preece has spoken through his on-track heroics at Richmond.

The Stewart-Haas driver Ryan Preece has earned a much-deserved top-5 finish at Richmond Raceway. Preece has struggled throughout the season despite getting a pole at Martinsville Speedway earlier this year.

However, his performance at Richmond left fans surprised considering his lack of form at the beginning of the season, earning him his first top-5 finish in a Cup Series. This season also saw Preece grab a top-10 as well as a stage win to his credit.

Preece initially didn’t look comfortable after joining Stewart-Haas Racing as a full-time driver this year. However, it looks like he is finally comfortable with the car. With four races still to go, Preece does have an outside chance of managing to get into the Playoffs.

Nevertheless, with another top place taken at Richmond by Chris Buescher, fans are only left with four more races in the regular season. The only chance for Preece to qualify would be to win the race. It will be interesting to see if he is able to build up on the progress at Michigan.
