The Spire Motorsports team have announced that they have roped in Justin Allgaier in their #77 car. He is just one of several NASCAR drivers who have been sharing the #77 seat. What this announcement also means is that he will be pulling double duty in the Cup and Xfinity Series at Talladega Superspeedway.

What may further complicate matters is the fact that Allgaier is starting on pole position in the Xfinity Series. Alongside Allgaier on the front row will be defending champion Austin Cindric, who currently sits third in the Xfinity Series championship.

Meanwhile, Josh Berry will line up in third place, alongside Noah Gragson. Behind them, Kaulig Racing’s AJ Allmendinger will round out the top five. They are ahead of Joe Gibbs Racing duo, Daniel Hemric and Brandon Jones. Right behind them will be Justin Haley in eighth place on the grid. Finally, Harrison Burton and Myatt Snider will complete the top 10.

It is also worth noting that he is teaming up with Brandt once again, fresh from signing a new deal with them. This will be his second start in the Cup Series this season after a 25th place finish at Pocono. Around that time, he replaced fellow Xfinity Series driver, Justin Haley.

Speaking of Haley, he has made 25 starts in the #77 car for Spire Motorsports. This weekend, he will be present on the Cup Series grid, but he will be racing for Kaulig Racing in the #16 car.

What to expect from Justin Allgaier at Talladega?

Last time out at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, Allgaier finished second to JR Motorsports teammate Josh Berry. The latter, who was himself substituting for an injured Michael Annett, secured his second career win in the sport that day.

In his career, Justin Allgaier has notched up 16 wins in the Xfinity Series. This includes two wins in the 2021 season at Atlanta and the Darlington Raceway. With six races left on the 2021 Xfinity calendar, he will be on the hunt for more wins under his belt.
