This weekend is the NASCAR Cup Series race at the Bristol Motor Speedway dirt race. What makes this even more special is the fact that the race falls on Easter Sunday. However, it seems that former driver Dale Earnhardt Jr is not too fond of this schedule.

According to him, Easter Sunday should remain a holiday, and his fellow podcast companions agreed with him. He said, “Spot off. I think we need Easter Sunday off. We need to be home with our families, hiding easter eggs in the yard with our kids. Its tradition.”

What else did Dale Earnhardt Jr say?

According to him, a large part of it is down to the TV networks. These networks have a lot of control over the sport and NASCAR has to cater to their demands. At the end of the day, the networks bring in a lot of money and the sport has to bend over backwards to keep them happy.

Unfortunately, there is nothing that the drivers can do about the situation. They will have to simply turn up for the races and compete. Dale Earnhardt Jr noted that the drivers and crew will barely have time to celebrate the holiday with their loved ones.

Also considering that the race is taking place at night, it will make things harder for them. In other words, they will be working almost all day to prepare for a race that takes place at night. As a result, everyone will be exhausted and there will be little to no time to spend with their families. This is exactly what Dale Jr is worried about and why he dislikes races being held on Easter Sunday. This is a time for families to be together, and they cannot do that if they are stuck at work.
