“Tainted My Legacy With The Chase Elliott Crowd” – Denny Hamlin On When He Intentionally Wrecked The Hendrick Motorsports Driver

Denny Hamlin is not known to be the cleanest racing driver. And it’s not his fault per se. It’s just the way NASCAR races work, drivers run very close to each other. Although Denny agrees he has made mistakes and wrecked people, none of them were intentional. Besides one, though. And that is Chase Elliott.

No wonder Elliott fans dislike him.

Hamlin had a feud with the Hendrick Motorsports golden child for a while after their contact in Martinsville in 2017. In fact, they even confronted each other after they wreck. Interestingly though, the Joe Gibbs Racing driver confessed that was the only intentional wreck in his career.

Denny said, “Of course, I’ve made mistakes along the way I’ve wrecked people for sure none have been intentional. Except for sort of one.”

Interestingly, Danica Patrick who is seemingly still salty about her and Denny’s contact in 2015, which they discussed right before. She even pointed to herself when he said “Except for one”, and the guilty driver had to clarify, “Not you no,”

So, who was the driver he wrecked intentionally? Well, “It’s Chase Elliott 2017 Martinsville. No intentions of wrecking him I was just trying to knock him out of the way. But he’s spun and then you know it tainted my Legacy with the Chase Elliott crowd from this point on they just can’t they can’t get rid of they can’t get over it.”

Well, turns out Elliott wasn’t too happy either, even though he didn’t say anything.

Chase Elliott thinks Denny Hamlin is not worth his time

Interestingly, the 2020 Cup Series Champion kept his composure throughout the confrontation. But he has a very wholesome reason for it.

Elliott said, “My mom always said if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all,”

He added, “He’s not worth my time, so we’ll move onto Texas. It was just unnecessary and uncalled for. I can’t control his decisions and whatever the hell that was.”
