Following the epic conclusion of its nationwide series, NASCAR brought in its whole roster, honoring drivers across its series in Nashville. While Blaney got teary-eyed, reminiscing about the man in his family who started it all, Chastain made the news owing to his funny wardrobe gaffe. Adding to the misery, recently during the #1 driver’s 31st birthday, his team at Trackhouse Racing upped the ante, poking fun at the “Hail Melon” man with a cheeky birthday present.

Now for some, Chastain might be a wrecking ball antagonist who denied Blaney the win during the final shootout at Phoenix but for others, he is the embodiment of the do-or-die attitude with the driver willing to go to any extent to take the finish. And that pretty much has made him super popular in the community.

Though Chastain has gone mellow on his never-say-die attitude, racing more maturely, the driver always has an entertaining story for the fans. The NASCAR Awards Gala at the Music City Center, Nashville, was no different when Chastain revealed how his girlfriend, Erica, got him stumbling after a wardrobe mix-up.

Erica, instead of getting a regular pair of shoes for the driver, got two for the left leg, turning Chastain’s special night into a loaning scheme. Luckily, he found a perfect match as he borrowed a pair from a reporter, but not before he called up William Byron for the same. While the #1 driver may have overcome this malfunction, his team wasn’t going to let it slide that easily, as was evident from a funny jab when they surprised him with a special birthday gift.

He was gifted a shoe, not a pair, but a single footwear to remind him of his Nashville faux pas. A puzzled Chastain then asked, “Where’s the left one?“, to which he got the reply, “No, you just need the right one. You already had the left one.” Now that’s a funny way to poke fun at someone, isn’t it?

While things seem to be going merry in Ross Chastain’s life now, he had to face his fair share of controversies in the aftermath of the final Phoenix showdown! Things turn sour between Chastain and Ryan Blaney when the latter indulged in some antics which he himself wasn’t very proud of.

Chastain stole the lead and kept it till the race finished, but Blaney wasn’t too happy about the Trackhouse Racing star stealing his thunder. The Team Penske driver tried to knock him out of the way and, having failed to do so, ended up flipping the middle finger at him, vividly expressing his frustration.

While the two bumped it off after the race and put it in the past, showing true spirit, Blaney regretted his action. Speaking to People.com, he said, “Am I ashamed of it? Yes. I hate that people caught that. Sometimes I have a short temper and it sort of bursts in the car. I just got to get it out and then I feel better about it.”
