Childress doesn’t think that was an unintentional wreck by Tyler Reddick

On the 106th lap, a fierce battle ensued between Reddick and the RCR #3 driver for a coveted spot in the top ten. As Brad Keselowski joined in, the Richard Motorsports driver found himself caught between the two, resulting in a spin after slight contact with Tyler Reddick’s car.

The aftermath of the intense collision left Austin Dillon‘s car in irreparable condition, and in a moment of frustration, he controversially hurled his helmet toward Reddick’s car. The incident quickly gained widespread attention from spectators and anchors, including Dale Earnhardt Jr, many of whom viewed the wreck as unintentional on Tyler Reddick’s part.

Adding to the drama, NASCAR released a video showcasing the wreck and the radio recordings, where Richard Childress was heard venting his anger at the 23XI Racing driver for ending his grandson’s race, saying, “Tha Little Sh*t just wrecked him.”

“I kind of knew it was coming, so I was ready for it,” says Tyler Reddick about the helmet throw.

As “The Tricky Triangle” race concluded, Tyler Reddick secured a respectable P2 finish, while Dillon faced disappointment, stuck down in P34 with a DNF.

Austin Dillon’s frustration with Tyler Reddick for causing the wreck was evident, yet surprisingly, Reddick remained calm and composed even after Dillon flung a helmet in his direction, a potentially dangerous act that could have caused another accident.

Furthermore, while discussing the wreck, Reddick took the opportunity to explain his actions, affirming, “I knew we didn’t have a lot of room, but I definitely wasn’t trying to squeeze him or run him up the race track, or anything like that. There’s plenty of ways to look back at it and analyze it, you know. We’ll certainly look at SMT to try and get a better understanding of what happened beyond just the replay. By the time I realized he was going to be coming down across the race track the way he was, I tried to go right to the brake pedal, but it was too late and contact was made.”

Tyler Reddick’s composed demeanor garnered admiration from millions of fans, who flooded him with kind comments. And now NASCAR fans eagerly await Tyler Reddick’s resurgence, hoping to witness him secure wins and a spot in the playoffs.
