It seems Toyota Racing is ready to go to the extremes to keep Kyle Busch as their own. Even if it means signing up Kyle Busch’s own as their own, something David Wilson, the Toyota Racing Development President, recently shed some light on.
For a few months now, there has been a considerable amount of uncertainty surrounding the future of Busch at Joe Gibbs Racing and, inevitably, with Toyota.

The driver played coy when confronted with those questions, naturally his team owner, Joe Gibbs played it ‘it’s all under control’, but Wilson has been the voice of reason in this scenario.
And his voice clearly suggests that losing Busch would be “a tragedy” for Toyota.

Kyle Busch can continue the Busch clan in NASCAR if he stays with Toyota
David Wilson described how outspoken he has been with Toyota’s view on Kyle Busch. And despite his “polarizing personality,” they are not going to give up on him.
In order to convince Busch to stay with the company from Japan, Wilson is even ready to let Brexton Busch, the rising racing star son of Kyle Busch, drive for Toyota.

“As a father, and as a grandfather, I can truly appreciate having his son drive a Toyota one day and drive for his father at his truck team in a Toyota. And that can only happen if Kyle keeps driving for us,” he said.

And for what it’s worth, David Wilson doesn’t believe Kyle Busch would do what a former NASCAR driver famously did.

“I don’t see a Carl Edwards in him with the mic drop,” he added.
