

The biggest midget racing spectacle is upon us as the racing world awaits the Chili Bowl at the Tulsa Expo Center. Amidst the dull NASCAR off-season, fan expectations are sky-high. Among the popular names this year, Kaylee Bryson will be making her debut appearance representing Bertrand Motorsports alongside a 5-time Golden Driller winner.

The first woman to make the Chili Bowl A-Mail X2 is set on seizing the moment, etching her name in the history books as she partners up with Sammy Swindell, driving his #91 Spike/Stanton SR11x midget racer for Swindell-Bertrand Motorsports. Bryson shot to fame last year when she became the first woman in the event history to make the main event with a victory in her B-Main, driving for Kunz Keith Motorsports.
This time around, she looks to capture the limelight and make the most out of her debut appearance with Swindell’s team. The Oklahoma native recently dropped massive claims about the upcoming event, revealing her tenacious side.

Bryson made history earlier this year in the USAC Silver Crown National Championship, earning a fifth-place finish in the series standings to be named top Rookie of the USAC Silver Crown Racing. She became the second driver in the past decade of the competition to finish inside the top five in standings and also be named Rookie of the Year. Her accomplishment is just second to popular dirt racer, Logan Seavey who achieved the feat in 2021.

Coming from an already successful career, Bryson has finally got the dream opportunity to elevate her status even further by running alongside the veteran, Swindell. Reflecting on her golden opportunity to further climb the ladder of fame, the lady driver opened up to Sportsnaut. She said, “The first year I made the feature, I was just so happy because it’s something every dirt racer dreams of, then we made it again the next year and that’s not enough now.”

She then got candid about her ambitions, saying, “It’s still a big deal to make the race but we want to make some noise in our prelim and on Saturday.” The 21-year-old then credited her guru, Swindell for taking the time to teach her the quintessential of dirt racing.

Bryson on her team-up with hero Sammy Swindell
Ever since she proved her mettle last year, Bryson has become a real head-turner in the dirt racing/midget racing scene now. In fact, she landed her dream opportunity with her “hero” Sammy Swindell when Crew chief Chris Santucci got the duo connected earlier this year. Since then, Swindell has become Bryson’s driving coach/guru, imparting his invaluable knowledge to the youngster.

Now with the veteran on her side, Bryson is confident that she can handle Seavey’s challenges. “I feel like I learned everything there was to learn as a rookie and it’s just a matter of applying it. The last race at IRP, I was right there with Seavey. The goal is to win races next year,” Sportsnaut quoted her as saying.
