“The Biggest Thing That I Didn’t Want..”- Kevin Harvick on the “Snowball” Around His NASCAR Retirement

There’s a saying that all good things must come to an end. Right? Well, that’s the case of NASCAR veteran Kevin Harvick. Earlier it was announced that the 2023 season would be his final year in the Cup Series. After a long and illustrious career, he is finally ready to hand up the helmet and go into retirement. However, recently, he sat for an interview, where he mentioned the intricate procedure that had been going on within the team ahead of his last goodbye.

During the interview, Harvick mentioned, “When I just started a couple of years ago, just tryna decide when was the right time. You know there was clearly no right answer. I think it was a little different for everybody. The biggest thing that I didn’t wanna do was retire and then unretire. I wanted to try to do it the right way so that it was my team and my sponsors and everybody had the sufficient time to run the race teams correctly. And have the proper funding and do all the things that it took when I was done. Because we’re just so tied to so many sponsors and people and different things. That it’s just a snowball “

He also mentioned how he wanted to just get up on stage and say that he was done at one point in time. However, after talking to several people, he said, “You only get one chance to do your last time.”

Racing for 23 years in the Cup Series. It seems like Harvick is finally prepared to let go of the sport he loves. Furthermore, carry on into retirement. Just recently, he announced that the 2023 season would be his final season in the foray. After winning around 60 races and one championship throughout his career, the Stewart-Haas Racing driver is preparing to take on his final season.

Harvick is currently 47 years old and has spent most part of his life behind the wheel. He entered the sport, replacing the iconic Dale Earnhardt Sr, right after his death at the Daytona 500 back in 2001. Ever since, Harvick has been under the spotlight. After spending 13 years at Richard Childress Racing, he moved into SHR. Across the two teams, it was more than two decades in the sport for him.

The California native is finally prepared to walk off into the sunset. Of course, his legacy would remain in the memory of everyone in the NASCAR community for decades to come. Hope that he gets to experience the best out of his final season in the sport, racing for his buddy, Tony Stewart’s team.
