With the 2021 NASCAR Cup Series season done and dusted, many drivers will be happily relaxing. However, it will only be a matter of time until they are back in the grind and preparing for the new season. Some drivers often compete in other series to prepare themselves, and that’s the route Alex Bowman has taken.

According to reports, the Hendrick Motorsports driver is the first driver to confirm his participation in the 2022 Chili Bowl Nationals. Of course, we can be certain that he will not be the only NASCAR driver on the track. To be precise, reigning Cup Series champion Kyle Larson will be keen to defend his Chili Bowl crown.

It is no secret that Larson is a versatile driver and can excel in any machine. So, he will most likely be the favorite to win another Chili Bowl. However, Alex Bowman is no pushover in the dirt arena, and has been competing in the event since 2019. Even though he hasn’t won even, he has come close and established himself as a threat.

Alex Bowman will approach the 2022 season with more vigour

Of course, this Chili Bowl race will merely be a way for the NASCAR drivers to hone their skills. Bowman will definitely need it after his fairly average showing in the 2021 season. On a disappointing note, he finished behind his teammate William Byron, in 14th, with the #24 driver in 10th place.

Now, the driver will be aiming to improve on his performance and get closer to his other teammates. For that to happen, he and Byron need to really pull up their socks and get closer to Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson. Next year will see the debut of the Next Gen cars, so it will be interesting to see if Bowman can edge closer to the top.
