Even though Atlanta isn’t exactly a superspeedway per definition, it behaves like one. The racing on the track certainly mimics that of a superspeedway. So it’s only natural that the wrecks, too, are of the same pedigree, something Ross Chastain and a bunch of other big names found out the hard way.

During lap 91 of the NASCAR Cup Series race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Martin Truex Jr got loose as Chastain was right behind him.

What followed next was carnage. A big one that collected not only the Joe Gibbs Racing and Trackhouse Racing driver, but also names like Kyle Busch, Kyle Larson, Austin Dillon, Joey Logano, Christopher Bell, Michael McDowell, and Noah Gragson.

A total of 9 cars. That’s a lot.

Truex told his team over the radio, “My bad. I spun out and had no f*cking chance.”

As for who was responsible for the wreck, that’s a verdict that will come after a lot of analysis considering the scale of the whole thing. But right after the incident, the fans at least knew who to blame.

A fella that goes by the name of Ross Chastain.

“I look back at some of the moves that I make and stuff and I’m like damn it, I can be better in those instances,” he said. “So it’s a work in progress.”

As for how he deals with the boos, Chastain admitted they catch him “off guard.” However, lately, there have been more cheers than boos, so that’s okay with him.

“I didn’t know which way this kind of stuff would go. So it’s a lot more cheers lately,” he added.
